SYNOPSIS

To get what he wants, he’ll have to play a game of dirty pool.

Michel Marcello never wanted to be a mafioso like every other man in his family—he wanted to be more. That doesn’t mean he’s unfamiliar with the life, or that he can’t hold his own against other made men.

They forgot where he came from …

His chance encounter with the fiery and beautiful daughter of Detroit’s most notorious Irish mob boss stokes flames beyond the ones that ignite between Michel and Gabbie Casey. Rivals shouldn’t mix, but these opposites have never been more attracted, either.

The lines between family loyalty, their duties, and responsibility begin to blur.

Love ruins all.

But these two aren’t the only ones playing this game, and it just became far more dangerous to get out alive.

Dirty Pool is a standalone romantic suspense.

EXCLUSIVE REVEAL EXCERPT

“What good would it do me to tell you to stay away from the lad, hmm?” her father demanded sharply. “I think I have said more than enough over the last several months since you’ve run around with the prick that it’s clear I don’t approve. But whatever it is, you’re determined to see it through, so I might as well let you get it out of your system now before reality comes to wake you up.”

“What does that even mean?”

Charles scrubbed a hand down his face. “You’ll learn in time. As I intend.”

“I—”

“And as for that Italian fecker,” her father continued, “he needs to pick a side, Gabbie. If he wants to entertain the Italians in the daytime, and then shift with my daughter in the shadows when no one is looking, then the man can’t be trusted, can he? A lad like that … his mind is too sharp, lass. They had to know what he was doing, and then he can decide what he really wants to do. I know where he comes from, and you have to watch him like it, too. I need him to know that I am aware of his choices, and he has others to consider now.”

“Are you giving him the ultimatum, then? Them, or us?”

Charles arched a brow. “It isn’t that complicated, sweetheart. You don’t have to understand when all I want you to do is follow along.”

Wasn’t it that complicated?

She thought so.

“Follow along with what?”

Charles waved a hand at her, and she knew what that meant without him telling her. A dismissal. He was done with their discussion, and she was quite aware how that worked with her father. Once he was done, he was finished. No amount of her prodding or pressing would get more from him.

“I have men to deal with,” he told her. “And you haven’t checked your sugars since this afternoon. Go do that now.”

“My sugars are fine!”

Do it.”

She wasn’t a child.

She still felt like it sometimes.

Charles gestured at the group of lads that had attended the meeting, too, and were now waiting in the hallway just beyond Gabbie. Without waiting for her to really move out of their way, they pressed past her in the tight quarters, not even bothering to excuse themselves or pass her a second glance.

She wasn’t important.

Dismissed.

“Da—”

“Go, but not too far because I expect to speak with you again later,” her father ordered one last time. Then, to the men in the office, he added, “They never intended to settle, lads. That much is clear. We won’t act … yet. We’ll wait and see what they do first, aye, and then we’ll make the hard choices.”

Charles shut the door in Gabbie’s face, essentially leaving her alone in the hallway. It was amazing to her how she could feel so many things all at once. Anger warred with her disbelief and astonishment. Panic swelled in her heart, swirling with anxiety and sadness.

Did it really have to be like this?

What did that mean for her?

For Michel?

For them?

She didn’t know, and she didn’t like it.

Nate Reynolds is everything I shouldn’t want. Aside from being my best friend’s older brother, he’s a cocky, smooth-talking, panty-dropping playboy of a cop. And yet, I’m helplessly drawn to him.

His charm and good looks reduce me to a fumbling, mumbling teenaged version of myself, which pretty much guarantees that nothing will ever come of my silly crush.

Until the night of my best friend’s wedding.

Jenny Jones is the definition of innocence. She’s also my little sister’s best friend, making her

completely off limits. She’s a forever kind of girl with hearts in her eyes, where I’ve always been more of a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy.

Until a night spent between the sheets with her has me questioning everything I thought I wanted.

I tried my hardest to stay away, but you know what they say about the best intentions …

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 STARS

Best Of Intentions is such a sweet story that follows Nate Reynolds, a hook-up kind of guy and Jenny Jones, BFF to Nate’s younger sister. LK Farlow does an amazing job of giving us a best friend’s older brother romance that covers some difficult real life issues. Nate views Jenny as the very definition of a “Good Girl”, one who deserves a forever kind of love; which he feels he isn’t allowed to have due to trauma from past events. Jenny is a strong female character that knows what she wants however her crush on Nate causes her to be a bumbling fool whenever he is near. She also has major insecurities when it comes to relationships because of how her ex reacted to her condition. The night of Nate’s sister’s wedding, Jenny and Nate spend the night together, but Jenny wakes up alone the next morning. They both move on and each may have the best of intentions, but will it be enough to stay apart?

Tatum, Nate’s niece is my absolutely favourite character. I just love her, especially when she tries to describe falling in love to her Uncle Nate.

“Falling in love is like learning to tie your shoes, Uncle Nate. It’s hard and it takes time – like a lot of time. But once you get it, you know how to tie them forever. You don’t just forget.”

I’d like to thank the author and Candi Kane PR for kindly providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Best Of Intentions by LK Farlow will join the ranks of BIBLIO-SUPERIOR.

Excerpt
With the very tips of my fingers, I drag them down her arm to her elbow. I wrap my hand around her and pull her impossibly closer. Her head nestles against my chest as we sway to the music.

I keep her on the dance floor for at least four songs, unwilling to let her go. Thank God, they were all slow, because I don’t think I’m ready to really feel her move. Even now, with us merely rocking back and forth, her body feels so damn good pressed up against mine—and don’t even get me started on the way she occasionally presses her nails into my chest.

On song five, my luck runs out. The bass thumps low as she spins and presses her back into my front. Jenny may struggle to talk around me, but her body is saying all the things her words don’t. She swivels her hips as the tempo climbs, and the semi I’ve been sporting is in real danger of rivaling the damn tent the reception is being held in.

Seemingly unaware of my mental—and physical—struggle, Jenny keeps right on grinding her ass into me. Deciding to go with it, I palm her hips and move with her. My rhythm isn’t quite as good as hers, but we’re in sync enough for me to know we would be on-fucking-fire if we were doing this dance between the sheets instead.

Right, because that’s what I need to be thinking about right now.

Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS

One Night For Seduction is the first instalment in The Wicked Dukes Club Series. This is the first book I’ve had the pleasure of reading from author Erica Ridley. It’s been a while since I’ve read a historical romance and I was not disappointed.

Caleb (aka Cole) Sutton, Duke Of Colehaven accepts a dare to find a suitor for his friend’s “unmarriageable” ward, Diana Middleton. He’s in a winning streak and is confident that he’ll complete the task in record time. Unbeknownst to Cole, he’s met his match in Diana; who’s made an active choice to remain unwed to continue her secret work in helping make the lives of the average people better.

I enjoyed that Diana wasn’t the typical docile, simpering lady of the ton. She was intelligent, highly independent and secretly went about living a double-life. One where she was considered a wallflower by the ton and another where she pretended to be a barrister’s secretary collecting data ensuring fairness and equality in the market.

There was profound chemistry between Diana and Cole.

“Any restraint she’d once believed within her control vanished with the taste of his kiss.”

I found this book highly entertaining and would recommend this book as a MUST read. I’d like to thank the author and Social Butterfly PR for generously providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. One Night For Seduction by Erica Ridley will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

Excerpt:

Movement caught the corner of the Duke of Colehaven’s eye and he turned to see a maid slip into the receiving salon. Possibly sent to offer him some sort of refreshment as he waited but, given how the mission was unfolding thus far, more likely the girl was simply going about her normal routine. Shaw would return at any moment to inform Cole his mistress had no wish to make his acquaintance.

He gave a subtle nod to acknowledge the maid’s presence and moved out of her way to sit upon the edge of a sofa.

The maid tilted her head as if considering him, but the brim of her mobcap flopped too low for Cole to discern the direction of her gaze. Of course a servant wouldn’t be so ill-trained as to stare rudely at her masters’ guests. Likely she was deciding between carrying on with her duties or returning later once the unexpected guest had gone.

“You’re one of Diana’s friends?” came the soft query.

Cole wasn’t certain what startled him more: confirmation that Diana Middleton did indeed have friends, or surprise that a maid would dare to address him directly.

Perhaps that was why his mouth answered automatically, “I’m here to see Miss Middleton, yes.”

Even that small evasion caused a ripple of discomfort beneath his skin. It was none of the maid’s business what the Duke of Colehaven was or was not up to, but Cole prided himself on being scrupulously honest in all his dealings, regardless of situation or class. Yet he could not bring himself to say No, I am not her friend aloud. Honesty was paramount, but so was honor, and he was not here to besmirch Miss Middleton’s.

“Is she expecting you?” the maid asked.

“She is not,” he replied tightly, and made a show of arranging his long limbs in the opposite direction as though he had become struck with sudden fascination at the wallpaper on the other side of the parlor.

There. That should put paid to further inquiries.

“Then why are you here?” the maid insisted. “Have you come to press a suit?”

Nothing like that,” Cole blurted out more forcefully than he intended. He gave up on the far wallpaper and turned to glare at the impertinent maid in the doorway.

She was no longer in the doorway. The maid now stood an arm’s width from the other side of the sofa. Her enormous mobcap still flopped too low for her eyes to be visible, but her slender fingers worried at each other against the starched panel of her apron.

The chit ought to be worried. If one of the Middletons caught her interrogating a guest… Or if the head housekeeper should spy her underling shirking her duty…

“Haven’t you anything to do?” Cole said at last. He was not rude by nature, but then again, he normally did not find himself in conversation with other peoples’ chambermaids. Reminding her of her duty was doing her a favor, he told himself. If she lost her post due to such antics, Cole would not be to blame.

“I have more to do than time to do it,” the maid said.

Cole did not doubt this. He gestured toward the opposite side of the parlor. “Don’t let me stop you from what you came to do.”

To his surprise, her lithe hands retrieved a small journal from the pocket of her apron, jotted a quick note with the nub of a pencil, and tucked both objects back inside as though they’d never existed.

“Where’s your chaperone?”

I don’t require a chaperone. It’s Miss Middleton who—” He broke off as a sudden thought occurred to him, unlikely as it might seem. “Are you the young lady’s chaperone? Have you come to assess my character?”

“Did you hope for a stolen moment alone with her?” the maid countered.

“Heaven forbid.” He could not repress a shiver of horror. “I would never be caught alone with a marriageable young lady.”

“You’ve no wish to marry?”

“None,” he replied firmly. And definitely no wish to be compromised against his will.

“Then what makes you think Miss Middleton has any intention to marry?”

“Of course she intends to marry,” Cole said in exasperation. “All proper young ladies hope to find a worthy husband and become an equally worthy wife. What else is she going to do?”

“Mathematics,” the maid replied without hesitation.

He blinked at this non sequitur. “What sort of woman prefers mathematics to marriage?”

“A wise one,” the maid snapped. She ripped off her mobcap and glared at him, revealing a beautiful pair of angry blue eyes. “I’d rather devote the rest of my life to applied sums and long division than spend a single second in the presence of yet another man who thinks he knows what a woman wants without bothering to perform the most perfunctory of information gathering interviews to determine—”

“Miss Middleton?” stammered from his mouth, but Cole need not await verbal confirmation to recognize the truth. “Why are you dressed like a maid?”

“Why are you alone with me in this parlor?” she countered, hands on her hips.

At this unfortunate moment, Cole noticed that when the “maid” entered the salon, she’d shut the door behind her. His stomach bottomed in abject fear. If she hadn’t known he was coming, why on earth was she wearing a disguise? Had she known he was coming?

“Please tell me this was not an elaborate trick to compromise me into marriage,” he managed, every muscle tensing in anticipation of the worst.

“No,” Miss Middleton said, blue eyes flashing, “it is leverage which I intend to use to force you to leave me alone.”

“You mean to extort a duke?” He paused as full realization set in. “Into not marrying you?”

“Is it working?” she demanded.

He rose to his feet with alacrity. “I harbor no wish to marry you. None. At all.”

“Splendid,” she said. “Now hear this. I don’t need you or any man. Understood? If you’ve any sense of self-preservation, you’ll find your way out of this town house before someone catches us alone together and both our lives are ruined.”

God help them both.

He dashed to the door and flung it open wide, to prove no nefarious seduction was underway in the guest parlor. But Miss Middleton was right. Lack of misdeed would not be enough. He needed to make haste before the distinct lack of chaperonage in the parlor forced them into an unwanted marriage.

Sensing any act of politeness would only serve to irritate her further, Cole tipped his hat as he swept past her. “Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Middleton. Have a lovely day.”

“I’m already delighted never to have to see you again,” she called after him, her plump lips pursed in victory.

He smiled to himself as he slipped on his gloves.

That was where the fiery Miss Middleton went wrong. They would definitely be seeing each other again. After all, he had a ten-year winning streak to protect.

And the Duke of Colehaven never backed down from a dare.

ABBI SYNOPSIS

Glines3ecover

Summer had returned to the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama. The nightlife lit up with scantily clad sun-kissed bodies, live music, the smell of freshly cooked seafood.
Taking it all in he wondered if coming back had been the best thing. He wasn’t the same man who had driven out of town a year ago on the motorcycle he’d spontaneously bought after his best friend’s wedding. From the messy blond curls he’d let grow out to the tattoos now covering his arms, part of his chest and even the side of his neck, it all represented a part of his journey.

Eli Hardy was back, but he didn’t plan on staying for long.

I managed a bright smile that was so fake it was ridiculous to the other three standing there then turned on my heels and made my way to the French doors overlooking the gulf. Before I reached the exit, Eli moved in front of me and opened a door then stood back so I could go outside. There was the guy I remembered. The gentleman everyone loved. But as quickly as he appeared with the opening of the door, it was gone. No smile. No thank you for the rescue. Not even silent eye contact.

I slid off my heels and left them at the top of the stairs then headed down toward the sand below barefoot. The breeze was warm, so my arms weren’t chilled. Summer wasn’t officially here until the solstice, but in South Alabama, it had most definitely arrived.

The moon was full and walking beside Eli in the silence felt nice. There was no need to talk if he didn’t want to. We’d done that already. I hadn’t gotten him out here to talk anyway. I was tired of talking today. I’d done more than I usually did. Besides, Eli had little to say. No need to force him to speak.

The house was just a light in the distance when he finally spoke.

“Why did you do that?” he asked.

I lifted a shoulder to give a half shrug. Still no thank you. Not even the sound of gratitude. “You looked like you needed an escape.”

“I did,” he agreed.

“I was headed upstairs to escape myself. But I couldn’t ignore my hero mentality and let a poor guy get eaten alive by angry females.”

“Hmmm,” was his only response. What did that mean? And why did it have to sound so raspy and sexy? I should be annoyed by his lack of response. Not turned on by a deep husky rumble.

Back off Ophelia. Don’t go there. You already discussed this with yourself. He is off limits. Girl code unscripted or some shit. “I owe you one.” His voice and words surprising me. That was as close to a thank you I was going to get, but I’d take it. Besides if he was gushing over me and appreciative would I be as attracted to him? I knew that answer and I was going to pretend I didn’t. It made me sound shallow. I hated shallow. Needing to get out of my own head, I decided I’d do the small talk thing. Or attempt it with him.

“No, I think we are even now. I owed you one,” I told him. I felt his gaze on me then. Meeting that gaze was a stupid idea.

“Are you ignoring me?” Remo asked from close behind me, and a small shiver shot down my spine.

“Does that ever work?” I said, wishing my voice came out stronger, but it was already a fight forcing those four words out of my tight throat.

“No,” Remo said. “I’m difficult to ignore.”

Impossible to ignore.

“Turn around,” Remo ordered.

I didn’t move, focusing on the gray stone in front of me. It wasn’t only an act of defiance. My legs refused to move. Fear kept me frozen, but Remo didn’t need to know that.

His hot breath ghosted over my neck, and I closed my eyes, wedging my lower lip between my teeth to stifle a sound. “Open disobedience?” he asked in a low voice. His palms pressed down on my shoulder blades, and I almost crumpled under their weight, even though he didn’t put much pressure behind the touch.

“On second thought,” he said gently. “This position works well too.”

The soft clink of a blade being unsheathed made me jump. Remo braced himself to both sides of me, a long dagger in one hand.

This book is highly charged and will stimulate the senses. You’ll fall in love with the angel and her monster…I sure did!!!

Twisted Pride is the third book in The Camorra Chronicles, but may be read as a standalone. This book is the epitome of enemies to lover, which is a trope that I absolutely love. Remo Falcone is the Capo of the Camorra and he kidnaps Serafina Mione, the niece to the Outfit Boss on her wedding day in his plan for retribution. All know that a wedding is sacred but for the Camorra, this is what they say.

“We are the Camorra. We have our own set of rules, our own idea of honor.”

I absolutely loved the strength within Serafina and the way she conducts herself in spite of the situation she is in. Although, she has been brought up to follow all the rules of a daughter of the Outfit, where she is kept innocent; while facing her captors she finds her backbone and remains defiant to protect herself and the ones she loves.

“And I swore to myself that no matter the price, no matter what it would cost me, one day I would be the one to bring Remo Falcone to his knees, the one to break the cruelest man I knew.”

Remo is … *ugh, there are no words that can express what I feel for Remo. You just have to read this book and discover him for yourself. He is a Fallen Angel, or even the Devil himself who has fallen to his knees for his own personal Angel. He recognizes what he is to Serafina.

“You are an angel, and I’m your ruin.”

Twisted Pride is an EPIC read that will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I’d like to thank the author and The Next Step PR for generously providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I follow Snowflake’s lead up the street, the moon smiling down on us. Compared to my apartment in New York City, it’s downright tranquil here. Earlier, music blasted from the house next door, f-bombs dropping repeatedly in many of the songs. My aunt briefly mentioned her next door neighbor, “Vaughn.” She texted to say that if I needed anything, he could help, and included his phone number. From the music selection, I’m guessing he’s closer to my age than hers.

The noise level has since subsided, but lights shine brightly. Shadowy movement passes beyond the windows. There are definitely people inside. Music suddenly shatters the quiet, the latest Maroon 5 song blaring through the wide open front door. Inexplicably, Snowflake chooses that moment to bark like someone yelled “dog party!” and run toward the neighbor’s driveway. I tug on her leash because I’m not one to trespass, but she’s crazy for something and isn’t about to back off. Then I realize someone’s walking down the dark driveway. Someone tall, broad-shouldered, and ambling with a loose-limbed grace that suggests he thinks he has the driveway to himself. Whoever he is, Snowflake can’t wait to greet him.

I’m about to call out hello when an engine revs. Red taillights blaze from the top of the driveway, and a vehicle jerks like the driver forgot to release the brake.

Oh crap.

The guy stops and turns in slow motion as an SUV rolls down the drive. I’m close enough now to hear his, “Oh fuck no,” as the car lurches.

He sprints to the center of the driveway and faces the car like he’s the Hulk and can stop two tons of metal momentum with his bare hands. What is he thinking?

“Stay,” I command Snowflake, and run up the driveway. “Hey!” shout.

The guy turns around and oh my God, the car suddenly picks up speed and heads straight for him. “Look out!”

He doesn’t listen, his eyes locked on mine instead. In a burst of super-human strength I didn’t know I had, I tackle him and fling us to the side of the concrete before he’s roadkill.

“What the—” he mumbles then oomphs as we hit the ground. Lucky for me, I’m sprawled on top of him, a slight sting in my shoulder from our initial landing.

Icy fear grips me as I look down the drive, praying Snowflake has stayed put. She has, but being the badass that she is, she’s barking for the driver to get out of the vehicle and keep all hands where she can see them. Thankfully, the SUV has stopped, its back end in the thick green bushes flanking the entrance to the driveway.

A tall blond woman in a short blue dress stumbles out of the car, laughing her head off like she didn’t almost crash into a human being. “Jesus, Vaughn, your ride is as fucked up as you are.” More laughter comes from a second woman climbing out of the passenger seat. Snowflake growls.

Beneath me a low voice mutters, “It is now.”

I turn back to my aunt’s neighbor. A small corner of my mind registers the sound of high heels clicking up the drive and Snowflake’s bossy bark telling those girls where to go and how to get there, but the rest of me is totally focused on the man beneath me. Slammed against his warm, hard body I feel small, his broad shoulders and chest cushioning my fall. My gaze slides to defined biceps straining against his short sleeves. His masculine scent is clean, with a hint of something spicy. Whatever it is, it puts sexy ideas in my head. I let out a deep breath, grateful he’s still in one piece. My heart stops trying to punch its way out of my chest.

Then I raise my eyes to his face, and holy crap. He’s beautiful. The face of a model beautiful. Wait. I think he is a model. Like of the gigantic Times Square billboard variety. His light brown hair is a little longer now, but there’s no mistaking that square jaw and those dark, olive green, come-closer-if-you-dare eyes.

A slow grin takes over his very nice mouth, making my cheeks warm.

He blinks like I’ve all of a sudden gone out of focus. “Thanks for saving my life, angel,”

Excerpt Reveal ~ Junk Mail by Kendall Ryan

JUNK MAIL

By Kendall Ryan

Release Day: April 23

It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops.

Not my finest moment—but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere—on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton , in case you’re not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

EXCERPT

“Let’s get down to the nuts and bolts of this, shall we?”

Nuts?

Seriously, Hanson? Of all the words in the English language, you choose nuts?

But hey, on the plus side, she hasn’t seen the boys, just their leader.

Even so, I need to keep this meeting above the belt, including my own damn thoughts. I offer Peyton another apologetic smile. Time to get this deal back on track.

“Want to tell me more about your company?”

“I do. I really do.”

Her tone shifts instantly when she mentions her business, making me even more keen to hear her pitch.

I smile. A perfect, professional smile, as I cross my legs and fold my hands in my lap. I’m a motherfucking gentleman, not a junk-shot-sending caveman. “I want to hear all about it, Peyton.”

The only way to get past this mixup is to focus on business.

Not on her pretty face.

Not on those gorgeous eyes.

And definitely not on that dark hair I want to wrap around my fist and yank on it hard.

Four fucking months . . . that’s what’s wrong with my libido. It’s not operating in its normal overdrive. No, today, it’s at fucking warp speed. This is what happens when your own hand becomes your closest companion.

PFR - BT banner.jpg

“BB Easton is a masterful storyteller at her very best with Praying for Rain. It’s easily in the top five books I’ve EVER read. Unique, sexy, and wonderfully written, Praying for Rain is a story I’ll remember always and reread often.” — T.M. Frazier, USA Today bestselling author

Praying for Rain, an all-new powerful and emotional love story from BB Easton, is available now!

Praying for Rain ebook cover

With only three days left until the predicted apocalypse, the small town of Franklin Springs, Georgia, has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, abandoned homes, abandoned businesses, and abandoned people. People like Rainbow Williams.

Rain isn’t afraid of dying. In fact, she’s looking forward to it. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all.

Wes Parker has survived every horrible thing this life has thrown at him with nothing more than his resourcefulness and disarming good looks. Why should the end of the world be any different? All he needs are some basic supplies, shelter, and a sucker willing to help him out, which is exactly what he finds when he returns to his hometown of Franklin Springs.

As society crumbles, dangers mount, and secrets refuse to stay buried, two lost souls are thrust together in a twist of fate—one who will do anything to survive and one who can’t wait to die.

Perhaps, together, they can learn how to live.

Before their time runs out.

Excerpt:

Just like in my nightmare, her touch is all it takes for me to lose complete control—of the situation, of my willpower, of my own damn body. Instead of giving her a swat on the ass and sending her home like I know I should, I watch like a prisoner in my own mind as my arms wrap around her tiny shoulders and pull her in closer.

No! What the fuck are you doing, pussy? Cut her loose!

I scream at myself, call myself every name in the book, but the voice in my head is drowned out by the euphoric rush I get from holding this girl. She coils my shirt in both fists. Burrows her face into my neck. Her breath comes in short, hot bursts as she giggles against my skin. Her nose is cold. And all I can do is watch in humiliation as the meat puppet I live inside of tips its face down and smells her fucking hair.

Oh my God, you’re pathetic.

Sugar cookies. She laughs like a farm animal. She looks like a discarded porcelain doll that raided a teenage boy’s closet. And she smells like fucking sugar cookies.

Let her go, dipshit! Supplies! Shelter!

Self-defense! That’s what you need!

But the warning falls on deaf ears because now my stupid fucking cock has gone rogue, too. Why not? Nothing else is listening to me. It springs to life and rams itself into my zipper, seeking Rain’s attention as well. I take a small step back, just enough to keep from shoving my hard-on into her belly like a full-fledged creep, but she responds to my step back with one of her own.

And that’s it.

The moment is over.

The laughter is gone.

We drop our arms, and we begin walking.

In a split-second, a car crash killed almost everything between them. Ten years later, can one accidental ride fix tattered spirits, uncertain futures, and broken hearts?

Lily Grantham has always done what she’s been told. The daughter of a senator, she grew up as the good girl of Fawn Hill, and carried that torch right on through to adulthood. Her only wild streak? REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS

Forgiven is the second instalment in the Nash Brothers Series by Carrie Aarons. This book absolutely gave me all the feels! I was so drawn to the emotional battle between Lily and Bowen, as well as within themselves. How the love they had was still there despite their avoidance of the other and the unknown.

“We couldn’t end because Bowen had left, leaving us in this heartbreaking middle ground between sorrow and a glimmer of hope.”

This is such a beautiful story of how young love was lost and how they manage the circumstances and secrets of what kept them apart in the first place.

“We are tarnished, our love is stained with the blood of my betrayal, of my lie. And there is no wiping us clean.”

I cannot wait for more Nash Brothers! I highly recommend reading Forgiven. I suggest reading Fleeting as it is the first book in this series, but is not required since both books can be read as standalones. I’d like to thank the author and InkSlinger PR for generously providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Forgiven by Carrie Aarons will join the ranks of BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

EXCERPT:

“Bowen?” The way she says my name, I know I’ve been sitting here staring at her like a damn fool.

Jeez, I need to get it together. “It’s uh, whiskey. But, there has been a hell of a lot of things mixed in there tonight.”

She chuckles. “Big guy’s night out, huh?”

“Something like that.” I smile back.

We stare at each other for a minute, and I can feel both of our heads moving closer. Almost unconsciously, as if there is a string tethering our mouths together.

“Are you having fun?” She breathes.

“More now than I was before.” It’s the truth.

Lily’s eyes dilate. “Why is that?”

“I think you know why.”

How easy it is to fall back into this. A decade has passed without a word. And now … we’ve been sliding slowly down this hill of attraction since my brother’s engagement. It’s slippery and dangerous, and I’m always grappling to climb my way back up. But sitting here with her, the woman I love most in the world, it’s too good to stop. I may break when I eventually hit the ground, but if it means staring at her, speaking words I’ve kept locked up in my heart for ten years, then so be it.

“Maybe …” Lily sighs, breaking the moment. “Listen, we’re going to be around each other a lot more now. With Presley and Keaton getting married, there will be more nights than there were in the last ten years where we’ll probably run into each other. You clearly don’t want to talk about us … and I can’t understand that, but I do know that I can’t keep cutting myself down over it. Even if we’re not friends, maybe we can just … be cordial. I don’t hate you, Bowen. Not even a little. And you’ve said as much about me. Maybe we can …”

She is going to say, be friends. But we can’t. And she has no idea why. Here she is, trying to appeal to my softer side, trying to bridge a gap that I’ve caused. God, Lily is the best kind of person. Even when someone has repeatedly cut her down, she’ll still try to shake their hand and call it a truce.

It’s a good thing, for both of us, that I’m the worst kind of person.

Because I was teetering on the edge of doing something disastrously stupid, something that could damage both of our reputations. I was willing to break just to have one moment of us. But now, I have to break for her, to protect her.

“No. We aren’t friends, Lily. We’ve never been friends. Just because we have to be in the same rooms doesn’t mean we need to talk. Or even look at each other.”

The look in her eyes … it’s as if I’ve slapped her. So much shame and hurt cloud those baby blues, and I feel the knife twisting deeper into the ventricles of my heart.

“God, when is enough going to be enough?” I slam the rest of my whiskey back, psyching myself up to destroy the love of the most amazing woman in the world. “Don’t you get it? This is desperate and sad. We were over a long time ago. I don’t want you. What is going to make you understand that?”

In the middle of my total annihilation of her, her phone buzzes. She picks it up, using anything to escape from this attack.

“It’s my parents. They want to make sure I got home, say it’s too late.”

I snort, the alcohol making me especially mean tonight. “Wouldn’t want to disappoint the senator and his wife. Oh, wait, I shouldn’t use the word disappoint. The word is disobey.”

Lily’s eyes grow cold, and that’s good. It’s what I want. “You’re despicable.”

“And you’re weak. You’ve never had one thought for yourself. One thought that wasn’t put there by them.”

This asshole comment has a different effect. Her entire face fills with upset, and I’m sure she’s about to crumble.

“I have to go.” A single tear falls.

“Yeah, go do whatever mommy and daddy tell you to. It’s what you do best.”

Lily sends me one last defeated, humiliated, heartbroken look as she grabs her purse and bolts from the bar.

My own soul may be cracked in half, but my mission is accomplished.

Hopefully, I’ve done enough damage that she’ll stay away, and never discover the secret that divides us.

What Reviewers Are Saying about the Nash Brothers…

“So what do I need to do to find a quaint little town like Fawn Hill? And some Nash brothers? Because good golly Miss Molly I am in love with everything here!” -The Book Branch

Excerpt

From My Best Friend’s Honeymoon by Grahame Claire

“What do you mean you aren’t going to make the flight?”

The man across the narrow aisle of the plane stared wide-eyed at my raised voice even as the woman next to him chattered away. I pressed the phone to my ear and angled away from him as Roxy continued to make excuses.

“Mr. Bubbles escaped. I’d think you’d be more concerned.” Seriously? Roxy was giving me a guilt trip?

“That cat only moves to eat, so don’t tell me that the lazy thing actually ventured out of your house.” I gripped the phone so tightly in my hand, pain shot through my joints.

“Also, somebody pulled the fire alarm at the library.” Considering it was eight in the morning on a Sunday and we didn’t open the library until one, I highly doubted it.

“This isn’t fifty excuses to give your best friend for leaving her alone on your honeymoon.” The lady in front of me whipped around and flashed a scathing look. I smiled apologetically and lowered my voice. “If you aren’t on this plane by the time it takes off—”

“Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts. Flight crew, secure the door.”

“As soon as I can get another flight, I’ll be right behind you,” Roxy promised.

“I can’t believe you overslept.” She was perpetually late to everything. Why I was surprised she missed the flight, especially after what went down at her wedding yesterday, I didn’t know.

“Um…well…actually, I didn’t.”

“Don’t throw Mr. Bubbles under the bus again.”

“Fine. I was up all night doing unspeakable things to Marco,” she said in a rush.

“The best man?!” I squeaked.

“Miss, please put away your phone,” a passing flight attendant said in a polite but don’t-cross-me kind of way.

I nodded and gave her a tight smile. As soon as she moved on, I pinned the phone to my face as Roxy tried to explain herself.

“I got left at the altar. I deserved to have some fun.”
